This summer, the World Championship arrives on Canadian soil for the first time ever. It's a big deal. The tournament is co-hosted across Canada, Mexico and the USA, and for a country that has spent years building toward this moment, the group stage can't come soon enough.
WPT Global wants to put poker players in the stands for it. The site is running a satellite series with VIP hospitality tickets up for grabs to any of Canada's three Group B matches, with food, drinks and a commemorative gift all included.
Canada's Schedule
Canada are in Group B with Bosnia and Herzegovina, Qatar and Switzerland. It's a tough group on paper, but one most fans will feel quietly confident about. All three games are on home soil too, which matters enormously.
The opener is June 12 at BMO Field in Toronto against Bosnia. Canada then head to BC Place in Vancouver for the Qatar game on June 18, before wrapping up the group stage against Switzerland on June 24 at the same venue. Three home games, three chances to make history.
There's a major subplot heading into the tournament. Alphonso Davies, Canada's captain and one of the best left-backs in world football, picked up a hamstring injury playing for Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-final earlier this month. He's been ruled out for four to five weeks, which puts his availability for the Bosnia opener in serious doubt. Davies has said publicly he's doing everything he can to be ready, and Canada will need him.
Jonathan David will carry the goalscoring burden either way. The Juventus forward has 39 goals in 75 appearances for Canada, making him the country's all-time top scorer, and after winning the 2024-25 CONCACAF Men's Player of the Year award, he comes into this tournament in the form of his life.
The Satellite Path
WPT Global's setup is straightforward. There are satellites running every day, starting at $3.30, building through a $33 semi-final stage and into a $330 final. Win that, and you're going to the World Championship
There are three separate $330 Finals scheduled, one for each Canada match, so you pick the game you want to go to and target that Final:
The Bosnia Final runs May 31. The Qatar Final is June 7. The Switzerland Final is June 14.
That first one is less than three weeks away, so if Toronto in June is on your radar, you need to be playing satellites now.
Canadian Players Get In Free
For players based in Canada, WPT Global has added a freeroll route into the ladder. Every Sunday at 4:00 PM ET there's a Canada-only freeroll that awards $3.30 and $33 tickets, meaning Canadians can technically run the entire path to a VIP seat without putting a dollar in. Not a bad deal.
For everyone else, $3.30 gets you started. Either way, it's an unusually accessible route to a live major tournament experience.
Worth Keeping in Mind
Canada hosting the World Championship is the kind of thing that gets talked about for decades. Being in the stadium for any part of it, with a VIP hospitality package is a proper experience, and WPT Global is making it genuinely achievable.
Satellites are running every single day across all three levels, so there's no excuse not to take a shot. If you've been meaning to give it a go, the $3.30 Round 1 tournaments run twice daily and take minutes to register for. Canadians can jump in for free through the Sunday freerolls.
The $330 Finals are already on the calendar (May 31, June 7 and June 14) and seats won't hang around.
Head to WPT Global, check the tournament lobby and get involved. The first Final is under three weeks away.
