My name is Andy Andreou — though if you've followed UK poker for any length of time, you probably know me as Greekfish, the screen name I played under throughout my years as a professional poker player.

Poker wasn't a hobby for me. It was a career. Through my twenties and into my thirties, I was competing on the UK live circuit and eventually in front of cameras — you can still find me playing in Poker Den: The Big Game on PartyPoker's channel, and featuring in the PartyPoker World Open IV and PartyPoker European Open, both televised events that aired during the peak era of UK poker. My Hendon Mob profile documents nine live results and over $62,000 in verified earnings. My best cash was a 3rd-place finish at the Dusk Till Dawn Mini Festival Main Event in Nottingham, worth $16,611. I also had a $14,000 score at the PartyPoker World Open IV and won two Grosvenor UK Poker Tour events outright — Bolton and Luton — back when the GUKPT was the most competitive domestic circuit in the country.

I never stopped loving the game. But somewhere along the way, I started paying as much attention to the business surrounding poker as I did to the cards. And the more I looked, the less I liked what I saw. The affiliate market was — and largely still is — built around commissions, not players. Sites were misleading people about deal terms. Rakeback structures were being misrepresented. Nobody was picking up the phone when things went wrong. Players were being left on their own with locked accounts, missed payments, and deals that didn't hold up to scrutiny.

I saw a real problem, and I decided to be the solution.

That's the honest reason I transitioned from the felt to affiliation. Universal Poker was built on a single principle that I believed in then and still believe in now: the player always comes first.
